Dani Dyer has told of her distress after her son’s father Sammy Kimmence was jailed, leaving her to raise her son alone.
The reality TV star, 25, said she was left in a “bad place” after Kimmence was jailed for 42 months for scamming pensioners out of £34,000.
Speaking on the Sorted with the Dyers podcast with her EastEnders actor dad Danny Dyer, she admitted to feeling overwhelmed at the thought of raising baby Santiago alone.
She said: “There was a moment where I thought, 'Oh my God, I'm on my own with a baby, how am I going to survive? How am I going to cope?'
"You know how distraught I was. I was so emotional. I've never really spoken about it, but I was in a bad place.”
However, the former Love Island contestant said she had managed to learn to love her own company.
"When Santi is in bed, that is my time to just do my own things and chill out. It doesn't mean you don't want to spend time with someone, it just means you enjoy spending time with yourself,” she said.
Dyer, known for playing Mick Carter in EastEnders, said: “You were put in a predicament, it wasn't the plan for you, you're a single parent."
The Love Island winner said it had been a journey to becoming comfortable with herself. She added: "So people shouldn't feel bad for wanting their own space.
“If you don't want your own company then someone else isn't going to want your company."
Dani is now dating West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen. The star said at the end of last year that Bowen has the approval of her dad who thinks he is a “lovely guy”.
Her father and boyfriend were pictured together in an affectionate photo at a bar last week.
