Dani Ceballos has told Arsenal fans that Mikel Arteta will deliver the goods despite a jarring setback against Crystal Palace on Monday.
The 3-0 defeat prompted plenty of criticism of the Gunners boss, including from TV presenter Piers Morgan over the decision to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and rely on Alexandre Lacazette in their push for fourth place.
“This is actually a moment when Arsenal fans need to accept Arteta made a massive season-wrecking mistake in giving away Aubameyang and relying on Lacazette to lead the line,” Morgan had said.
“I said it would come back to haunt us - and it is.”
However, ex-Gunners midfielder Ceballos has defended his old boss after spending two seasons at the club on loan from Real Madrid.
“Friend, let him work, he is very good,” tweeted Ceballos in response to Morgan.
“He will also take Arsenal to where they deserve. Patience.”
Not only did Arteta suffer defeat at Selhurst Park last night, the coach also lost Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey to injuries.
“Overall, it is unacceptable,” said the manager. “We put our hands up, me the first one, and apologise. We regroup and tomorrow is a new day and a new opportunity to prepare for the game against Brighton.
“I apologise to our supporters. We didn’t have the presence today or the composure to dominate the situation so that is what I’m most annoyed with.
“Some days you are not there and you are late all the time. They got on top of it and had a good atmosphere and we could not get out.”
