Dancing on Ice winner Nile Wilson had health and safety 'fears' over final as medics put on standby

Nile Wilson has addressed health and safety 'fears' he had over one of his routines in the Dancing on Ice final, after winning the show ion Sunday night.

Olympic gymnast Nile went into Sunday's live finale as the red hot favourite, after he and professional partner Olivia Smart had been at the very top of near the top of the leaderboard since week one, thanks to some amazing performances, packed full of difficult moves.

And Nile didn't shy asway from taking a few risks as he went for the Dancing on Ice crown, in front of the judges, a packed studio audience and millions of viewers at home. The first round of performances saw Nile and fellow finalists Joey Essex and The Vivienne perform their Showcase skates, flanked by a host of other pros.

Nile and Olivia used Pirates of the Caribbean as their inspiration, for a routine that was packed full of skills, including Nile being the first male celeb in Dancing on Ice history to take on the headbanger, being swung round close to the ice by pro Brendyn Hatfield, who'd partnered Ekin-su earlier on in the series.

But, as daring and risky as the headbanger is, it was another moment in the performance that filled Nile with concern, when he replicated famous gymnastics discipline, the parallel bars on the rink, with him doing a handstand just inches from the ice.

Reflecting on the routine as he appeared as a guest on Monday's This Morning, Nile said: "That, specifically, it shouldn't have been cleared by health and safety.

"It was four men holding scaffolding poles while I'm doing a handstand two meters in the air."

Clearly BNile wasn't the only one worried that something could go wrong, as he also revealed that a medic was on standby at the edge of the rink, as This Morning host Holly Willoughby remarked that normally the bars would be secured on steady ground, not on an ice rink.
