Dancing On Ice has suffered its first blow as Joey Essex injured himself just two days into rehearsals.
Disaster struck when the former TOWIE star, 32, began practicing his moves on the perilous ice - causing him to injure his middle finger on his right hand.
Joey is joining other famous faces on the ITV ice skating show including Love Island's Ekin-Su, The Wanted singer Siva Kaneswaren and Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton.
This year marks the fifteenth series of the programme, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. Former Olympic medallists Jayne Torvill and Chris Dean judging performances from celebrities and their professional skating partners.
Joey uploaded a snap of the sore looking digit to his Instagram. Posing for the camera, the Essex-born star wrote: "Respect the ice, otherwise the ice will not respect you… Day 2".
In the snap, Joey can be seen sporting a bandaged up finger with a splint for support. In a second picture, Joe showed a closer view with what appears to be bloodied hands.
Fans have rushed to send him get well wishes and words of encouragement as he continues with his training.
One fan commented: "Those ice skates can be lethal! Take care Joey".
Another added: "Don't let it stop you from getting back on the Ice!"
"Ah dude it’s brutal!!! Just keep going," wrote a third.
Speaking on his Instagram stories, the reality star revealed more about the accident. Discussing his current skating, he described himself as "a risk taker".
However, he added: "I don't think being a risk taker will be good for me...I've got myself a metal finger."
The star then tapped the phone camera with his bandaged finger before revealing: "Lucky I've still got the finger to be honest. Got to deal with this now."
Not to be downhearted, the TV star then offered some sage advice: "You live and learn. If you're ever gonna be a dancer on Dancing On ice, don't take risks. Go slow. It's all about patience."
Injured or not, Joey has made it clear he's in the competition to win. The reality TV personality told ITV’s This Morning : "I would love to win. I’m going to put all my energy into this. This stage in my life, I’m so ready for this."
