Emotions ran high in the Dancing on Ice studio on Sunday night as The Wanted star Siva Kaneswaran paid a beautiful tribute to his late bandmate Tom Parker, as Tom's wife Kelsey watched on from the audience.
In 2020, singer Tom broke the devastating news that he'd been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He vowed to fight the disease all the way and, after exceeding the life expectancy for his condition and getting to take to the stage with Siva, Max, Jay and Nathan on The Wanted's comeback tour last year, passed away a short time after at the age of just 33.
Having seen Jay and Max both compete on Strictly, Siva has made it all the way to the semi final of Dancing on Ice and used his 'personal skate' on Sunday night to honour Tom, revealing that he's be performing to The Wanted's hit Gold Forever, which was a particularly poignant song, given that Tom sings the opening lines.
Siva spoke about his friendship with Tom in a VT that played out before he took to the rink, revealing that he and his bandmates had been there with Tom for his final moments before he passed away, before saying: "I've been trying to figure out like, how I feel about him not being around It's hard, really hard. I miss him a lot."
Siva added: "I've learnt from being around Tom to use the difficulty to make something positive. This performance is for everyone who knew and loved Tom and everyone who didn't know him. I want everyone to celebrate him and how incredible he was."
A visibly moved Kelsey applauded Siva as the routine came to an end, reacting again when host Holly Willoughby mentioned that she was in the crowd, before Siva and pro partner Klabera Komini were awarded a series high score of 36 out of 40.
