Phillip Schofield was thoroughly embroiled in some sporting drama away from the rink as he prepared to host the Dancing on Ice finale.
Phillip, who two weeks ago was hosted the semi final on his own, after co-star Holly Willoughby tested positive for coronavirus, was back in the Dancing on Ice studio this weekend, following the show's unexpected two week hiatus due to ITV showing FA Cup football its time slot last week.
Just Brendan Cole, Kimberley Wyatt and Regan Gascoigne were left standing for this year's final, all aiming to follow in the footsteps of recent winners like James Jordan, Joe Swash and last year's champion Sonny Jay. And, while the final three's Instagram stories featured shots of last minute rehearsals, host Phillip was more concerned with how things were going in the world of Formula 1.

A big racing fan, Phillip was snapped watching the Saudi Arabian grand prix on a colleague's phone, looking pensive as he watched the action unfold live. And he isn't the only F1 fan in the Dancing on Ice crew as he then uploaded a shot of him and Christopher Dean watching the race on a phone propped up on the judge's panel, with just minutes to go before opening titles rolled on the final.
Phillip tagged Torvill and Dean in the post, although Jayne was nowhere to be seen. In the days leading up to the final, Jayne and Chris appeared on Good Morning Britain, with the Olympic icons put on the spot over 'unfair advantage' accusations against Brendan, Kimberley and Regan, who are all trained dancers.
Jayne responded: "It'll only help them once they've learnt to skate and everyone has to learn to skate. So, you know, you can't just say 'you can dance, you can go off on the ice.'
Chris Dean jumped into remark: "Past winners though, Kyran Bracken, rugby player," before Jayne added: "And last year was Sonny Jay from the radio."
