This year's Dancing On Ice series has probably been one of the most chaotic ever.
The show has descended into chaos multiple times throughout the tumultuous season - from Covid, contestant injuries, fix claims and a tragic death.
The show's reigning champ is Capital Radio presenter Sonny J and his professional skating partner Angela Egan but Kimberley Wyatt, Brendan Cole and Regan Gascoigne are ready to battle it out on Sundays nights finale.
The ITV show hasn't had a smooth ride this year as both Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby missed a show due to coronavirus, and contestants like Connor Ball had to pull out due to horrible injuries.
Dancing On Ice has also been hit with several fix claims throughout the series from unhappy fans, as reported in The Mirror.
Here is a look at this seasons most chaotic moments..
Covid chaos
Phillip caught Covid at the beginning of February and was unable to host the show alongside Holly.
The 59-year-old presenter has said he was struggling with a "slightly sore throat" and showed off his positive lateral flow test on Instagram with his fans.
He was replaced by Stephen Mulhern for the night, who returned to presenting duties with his former co-star Holly.
When Phil returned, he told viewers: "I had serious FOMO [fear of missing out]," adding that it was "made better" by several gin and tonics as he watched the show from home.
Phillip added: "Well done to Stephen Mulhern, aswell. Fantastic - you're welcome."
Just a couple of weeks ago, after Phil's return, Holly also caught the virus and left her This Morning co-star alone.
Phillip announced she would not be presenting with him as he opened the semi-final, saying: "As you can see Holly isn't here tonight.
"We found out just a few hours ago that she's tested positive for Covid. I know what it's like to watch this show from home - it is really weird. Holly, get well soon, lots of love."
Rufus Hound and his skate partner Robin Johnstone were then forced to quit early ahead of week four after the comedian tested positive for Covid-19 – with the pair replaced by Matt Richardson and pro skater Vicky Ogden.
Then actor Joe-Warren Plant and his skate partner Vanessa Bauer after both the Emmerdale star and the pro dancer tested positive for Covid-19 – and no replacement was provided.
Nasty injuries
Blue Mondays star Bez experienced one of the most brutal falls in January when he was training for the show.
It was then followed by S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens, who was forced to take six weeks out of training for the series after badly injuring herself.
She injured her wrist in December, and was unable to return to the ice for a long time.
During the third week, Rachel was back on the rink again with partner Brendyn Hatfield.
Rachel fell on the same wrist a number of times, before the final time left her with a painful fracture that ruled her out of being on the ice.
Speaking about her first performance after her six weeks was up, Rachel said on This Morning: "It's been eventful, that's for sure. We have been doing a lot of training off ice in the lead-up to the show."
Brendyn added: "It was good, we did a lot of training off the ice and that translated the best it could when we got back on."
Meanwhile, The Vamps star Connor Ball from Aberdeen also suffered multiple injuries during his time on the show.
He told Lorraine on her talk show: "There's been a lot. I split my chin open, so I had five stitches in there. I dislocated my shoulder and then I ripped my leg open in three different places and had 14 stitches down there."
Lorraine asked Connor if he was alright, and he said: "There’s quite a lot of bruising going on,” as the ITV presenter described him as “bruised and battered”.
Connor shared with fans that he had to undergo treatment on his leg after he received a nasty cut during his fall during an episode of the live show.
He was caught by the blade of his dance partner Alexandra Schaumann when they crashed to the floor during their pirate themed routine, as Connor clutched a mop in the routine, and he received emergency treatment backstage on his gashed leg.
Connor previously also detailed a hip injury that won’t go away, medics are repeatedly resetting his shoulder when he dislocates it, and then there's the nasty cut on his leg and scar on his chin.
Denise van Outen and her professional skate partner Matt Evers also pulled out ahead of week three as the TV host injured her shoulder – and the duo were replaced by gymnast Amy Tinkler and pro skater Joe Johnson.
While Billie Faiers and her skate partner Mark Hanretty left on week four after the ex-Towie star sustained a head injury during training – and the duo were not replaced.
BMX champ Kye Whyte also sprained his knee.
Fix claims
In January, fans accused the ITV show of being fixed so that professional skater Vanessa Bauer always gets a good celebrity partner.
Vanessa opened the first show of the 2022 series with her partner Brendan Cole and their skate did not disappoint.
As the pair received an amazing score of 30.5, judge Christopher Dean declared it the best week one skate he had ever seen on the show.
But viewers were not surprised that Vanessa had been paired with a decent skater and took to Twitter to comment.
One person tweeted: "Do they actually want to give Vanessa a duffer. The level of favouritism. #DancingOnIce."
Another commented: "The power Vanessa holds over the producers to always get paired with with best male celeb #dancingonice #doi."
And someone else questioned: "How come Vanessa’s always given the best skaters? #DancingOnIce."
In February, Dancing On Ice was embroiled in another fix row as fans fumed over celebrities' dance backgrounds.
Viewers complained two of the contestants on this year's skating competition had an unfair advantage due to their extensive dance training, and called out the judges for giving them high scores.
Regan Gascoigne, who is one of the favourites to lift the Dancing On Ice trophy, is one of the celebrities who was targeted, as fans alleged he has an unfair advantage because he's been professionally dancing for years.
The 26-year-old, who is the son of former England footballer Paul Gascoigne, enrolled in the Hammond Ballet School when he was a youngster, and studied musical theatre at the Tring Park School for Performing Arts.
He has also performed with dance troupe Qdos Entertainment since 2018, and some viewers believe he shouldn't be allowed to compete against non-dancers.
Regan fired back at the criticism, and told Mirror Online skating was “different to dancing”.
“You're holding your core in a totally different way to how you would be dancing. Lifting people is totally different, it is a completely different skill. The ice is a completely different element,” he explained.
In other dramatic scenes, fans claimed there was another fix as judges chose to vote off Paralympian Stef Reid, who ended up in the skate off with Kye Whyte.
It had been hoped that Stef, 37, would become the first disabled contestant to win the show, particularly as she was still recovering from a injury brought on by the death-defying headbanger.
However judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse and Christopher Dean thought Olympic BMX racer Kye, 22, deserved a place in the semi-finals.
The decision didn't go down well with viewers with many of them taking to Twitter to complain.
Tragic death
In January, professional skater Sean Rice suddenly passed away at the age of 49.
The professional, who appeared on Dancing On Ice in 2011 and 2012, passed away on January 14, according to friends.
Frankie Poultney, who is a fellow skater and close friend of Sean, shared the sad news on Twitter.
Frankie wrote: "Pro skaters are heartbroken today, we lost a true larger than life great - an epic skater, a husband, father, and my friend of 20 years.
"Sean Rice, 20/07/72 - 14/01/22 gone too soon, but we will Love You For A Thousand Years. All of our thoughts are with Signey and Jodeyne."
A spokesperson for Dancing On Ice said: "We are all deeply saddened to hear this news. Sean was a wonderful skater and friend to many on the Dancing On Ice team. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time."
In the two years that Sean was a pro skater on the ITV show, Sean danced with former newsreader Angela Rippon in 2011 and then a year later with Alpine ski racer, Chemmy Alcott.
Chemmy paid tribute to Sean with a sweet message on Twitter: "Have just heard the tragic news that Sean Rice, my partner from DOI, has passed away.
"The world will miss your amazing energy and your healing hands. All my love to J and S."
Sean leaves behind his wife Jodeyne Higgins and their daughter Signey.
