Dancing On Ice ’s Kimberly Wyatt said she was sterilised moments after giving birth to her third child because she didn’t want anymore kids.
The 39-year-old shares three children with husband Max Rogers - Willow, 6, Maple, 4 and Ford, 2 - and she said they were so determined to remain a family of five that they’ve both taken measures to make sure she doesn’t get pregnant again.
Former Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly was asked about expanding her brood during a recent interview, and she revealed that moments after welcoming baby Ford in 2019, doctors sterilised her.
“No! I had my tubes clamped while I was in there,” she replied.
Husband Max is also planning on having a vasectomy in order to prevent any further pregnancies, because they don’t want to :take any chances”.
Max said he believes even if he splits from Kimberly in the future, they “shouldn't be able to” have kids with anybody else.
The couple decided they were done having anymore kids after Kimberly fell pregnant with Ford just nine months after the birth of daughter Maple, and she suffered from a “brutal” recovery following her exhausting labour with her last baby.
She previously spoke about her decision to stop having children during an appearance on Loose Women last year, and said “sustainability” was one of the reasons including their choice.
“Sustainability is such a big part of our focus as a family. Within a year of having our second child, number three showed up,” she explained.
“When I had my third cesarean I was sterilised. I said to the midwife - who was called Jane, ‘clamp 'em hard Jane,’” Kimberly quipped.
Sterilisation involves blocking or cutting a woman's Fallopian tubes, making her unable to get pregnant permanently.
Max said they had no idea it was one of the options they had to prevent having any more children, so when it was suggested during labour with Ford, the couple jumped at the chance.
“I was going to have a vasectomy. But when she was having the C-section we were given that option, so Kim took that option,” he shared.
The star is currently competing in Dancing On Ice, and she recently revealed she’s been left with bruises all over her body due to the falls she’s had during training.
“I fall on average probably twice every time I step onto the ice for a training session. The bruises are intense but it’s all part of it,” she said on Good Morning Britain.
