Dancing on Ice fans notice tension between judges as Jayne Torvill 'not happy'

Dancing On Ice fans are convinced they could see tension coming from sporting legend Jayne Torvill as she took her seat on the judging panel.

The 64-year-old Olympian is a judge on the hit ITV winter sport contest alongside fellow skater Christopher Dean, 63, dancer Ashley Banjo, and recent Strictly Come Dancing star addition Oti Mabuse, 31.

But viewers tuning in on Sunday night claim they could see Jayne looking noticeably unhappy while judging during the live-broadcast show.

They argued that while the gold medal winning star was as professional as ever while giving her insight and feedback, she looked less pleased when the cameras weren’t focused on her.

One viewer tweeted: “Jayne does not look happy tonight! When the camera isn't directly on her she looks really peed off."

Another agreed, tweeting: “I thought the same. She doesn’t seem at all happy and seems really abrupt too."

And a further fan wrote: “Jayne doesn’t look in a very good mood tonight."

And perhaps Jayne’s facial expressions were justified as fans of the show appeared to screw up their own noses over Sunday night’s results.

Viewers have thrown ‘fix’ accusations at the ITV hit as 25-year-old celebrity offspring Regan Gascoigne, who is the son of 54-year-old football legend Paul, topped the leaderboard despite stumbling around the ice.

Show judge Oti said during her feedback: “It is okay to stumble. It makes you human, so well done for carrying on after that.”

But Christopher said: “That was going to be the skate of the series for me, but you make a stumble and your marks go down.”

Nonetheless, Regan scored 9s from the judges – provoking outrage from viewers.

One, taking to Twitter, wrote: “#DancingOnIce Regan is one of my absolute favourites but you can’t get a 9.5 following 3 mistakes.”

Another agreed, adding: “How did Regan get 9s when he stumbled THREE TIMES? #DancingOnIce”

And a third wrote: “9.5?? You having a laugh Jayne? #DancingOnIce,” as a further viewer tweeted: “9s and a 9.5? when he stumbled 3x? the score inflation this year is mad #DancingOnIce”

Love Island star Liberty Poole was the latest star to be eliminated from the show after she and 27-year-old skate partner Joseph Johnson took a disastrous tumble while performing a daring lift.

Joe scooped 22-year-old Liberty into the air to flip her around his body, but his skate caught hers when she returned a leg to the ice – sending them both crashing flat to the ground.

The mistake cost them their place in the contest, but Liberty said as she left the show: "I've honestly enjoyed every second and I'm proud of myself because I pushed myself this week. I just want to thank everyone behind the scenes for always being there to support me."

Dancing On Ice continues on Sunday night on ITV and via the ITV Hub at 6pm.
