Dancing On Ice fans slam judges over Mollie Gallagher's score after daring headbanger

Dancing on Ice fans were left shouting at their TV screens on Sunday night as they deemed the judging panel’s scores for Coronation Street 's Mollie Gallagher excessively harsh.

Mollie, 25, who plays goth Nina Lucas in the ITV soap, undertook judge Christopher Dean’s challenge to perform the frightening headbanger move, becoming the first celeb this series to do so.

The dangerous and difficult move saw Mollie swung by her ankles with her face inches from the ice in a frightening stunt that could easily go wrong.

Yet dancing with pro partner Sylvain Longchambon, 40, to the Billie Eilish smash hit Happier Than Ever they executed the move to perfection at the end of their routine.

They were under the watchful eyes of ice skating royalty Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as well as Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse on the fearsome judging panel.

The pair were ultimately awarded a total of 30.5, with a string of 7.5 scores as well as one lone 8 from Christopher.

The scores left Dancing on Ice fans at home furious, as they said the pair had been ‘undermarked’ given they performed the difficult move.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “She deserved better than that!! What were the judges watching!?!” as a second agreed: “7.5??? SORRY WHAT? She did a literal headbanger and the judges score her a 7.5?? She was much better than last week.”

“These judges are idiotic, 7.5 for that routine, STUPID STUPID STUPID,” another raged.

One fan wrote: “Cant believe Mollie only got 7.5 from the judges when she did the head banger!!!” as another added: “Definitely deserved a higher score, 7.5 is laughable!”

One star who was not taking part this weekend was Siva Kaneswaran, who was forced to pull out of this live show due to illness.

A spokesperson told the Mirror: "Due to illness Siva will not skate in this weekend's show. We look forward to welcoming him back next weekend."

While Siva said: "I'm gutted that I won't be performing this weekend but I picked up a bug earlier in the week which I haven’t been able to shake so I need to rest and get myself better.

"Good luck to all the contestants this weekend - I'm looking forward to watching everyone's performances!"

Dancing on Ice returns each Sunday on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
