Jesy Nelson could be set to show off her ice-skating skills as rumours swirl about her potentially joining the 2023 cast of Dancing On Ice.
The former Little Mix singer, 31, announced last week that she is quitting showbiz for the foreseeable as she fulfils her dreams of travelling around the world - but the ITV competition could potentially pull her back to the limelight.
The Bad Boyz singer has reportedly been approached by Dancing On Ice bosses, who are 'desperate' to sign her to appear in the ITV skating show.
"Dancing On Ice would love to sign Jesy to appear on the next series. She has chosen to take some time out from music and has the rest of the year off, meaning she could come back with a bang in January when the next series kicks off," an insider has revealed.
“ITV have approached Jesy to see if she would be interested. They have made it clear she is firmly at the top of their wish list and they’d do anything to make it happen. She is an incredibly talented performer and would have a great presence on the ice."
The source went on to tell The Sun that bosses are hopeful that Jesy's time away from the limelight will allow her the time to 'think about' doing the show.
It comes after Jesy revealed that she is putting her music career on hold following the release of her new single in April.
The former Little Mix singer is putting her solo career on the back burner in favour of a trip around the world.
The Bad Boyz singer took to Instagram last week to inform her adoring fans that she would be going 'off-grid' as she plans to head on an extended retreat away from her hectic celebrity lifestyle.
Given that she has been making music and performing all around the world for over a decade after winning the X Factor with Little Mix back in 2011, Jesy has never had the chance to take time for herself and fulfil her personal goals of seeing the world - but now seems like the perfect time for the singer.
Jesy released a statement letting her fans know that she would not be as active on social media in the coming weeks and months.
"Hey guys! So for a long time I've really wanted to go travelling but never had the time to do it," she typed.
"I've got some really exciting things coming up with work and my music, but until then I'm gonna take the summer off to travel the world. I'm going to be off my social media for a while, I love you all so much and I'll see you when I'm back."
In a move unlike her, Jesy turned off the comments on the post. It comes after Jesy dealt a career setback after her new single Bad Thing failed to make a major impact on the charts.
Bad Thing was released on April 14, the former Little Mix singer's second single after controversy over her first solo attempt, Boyz, released in October 2021.
However, the ballad has not been included in the Official Singles Chart Top 100 and the music video has yet to hit one million views.
"I don’t feel like anyone’s heard this side of me before, it’s a real, raw, honest, vulnerable side to me," Jesy confessed ahead of the single becoming available to buy and stream.
The 31-year-old singer sparked controversy in 2021 when she unleashed her collaboration with Nicki Minaj – to the chorus of accusations she was guilty of appropriating black culture in her accompanying music video.
Afterwards, Jesy parted ways with record label Polydor, with a source saying the popstar was on good terms with the label but the two parties had been "going in different directions" over her music.
The Mirror has contacted an ITV spokesperson and Jesy's representatives for comment.
