Coronation Street actress Mollie Gallagher has become the fifth star confirmed for Dancing On Ice 2023.
Mollie, who has played Roy Cropper's niece Nina Lucas on the show since 2019, announced the news on ITV breakfast show Lorraine on Thursday morning. The soap actress, 24, told Lorraine Kelly she will be getting all the advice she can from her co-stars who have also tried their luck on the ice.
Speaking on ITV today, Mollie shared: "I'm really excited. I've not really felt nervous yet, but being here today, now I'm feeling it. Back in the day, I've skated at Christmas markets but before the try out for Dancing on Ice, I went on the ice."
"I'll be getting all the tips I can," Mollie revealed as she confirmed she'd be chatting with her fellow Corrie stars who have taken to the ice. "I think I’ve not got the best coordination and everyone that knows me well knows that so when they find out I’m doing this, they’re gonna laugh!"
Ahead of today's announcement, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson was thrilled be confirmed for the show. "I'm going to be on ITV's Dancing on Ice!," he told fans on social media.
"This is a really cool thing. I've certainly not done much ice-skating but I am so excited for the opportunity. I’m so excited to get into that routine and to feel like an athlete again," he said, announcing the news on his YouTube channel, as he added: "My biggest goal on the show is to do something that no-one has ever done before!"
Love Island fans were also left stunned when Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu was confirmed to be one of the stars for the new series. "I’ve got some amazing news to tell you, I’m going to be doing this year’s Dancing on Ice! I’m so excited, I can’t wait to get myself on the ice and skate. Stay tuned and see you on the ice!" she shared on Good Morning Britain as she announced her latest venture.
Patsy Palmer was the first star confirmed to be taking to the ice, with the DJ and actress excited to "challenge" herself and get out of her comfort zone. Speaking on This Morning, she said: "I'll be travelling back, but training in Los Angeles which I feel blessed about.
"I'm going to try to win. I don't know how you do that, but I'm going to go for it."
"I wanted to challenge myself, get back to work and get out of my comfort zone. I thought I'd just go for it", said Patsy, who turned 50 this year.
"It seems a lot of fun and I love ice skating, but I'm not an ice skater. I've been asked to do it before, but I was absolutely terrified. The pact I made to myself when I turned 50, which I did this year, is that I have to do things to challenge myself for the next couple of years.
"I don't want to get stuck in this weird phase of 'ahh I'm 50'. It's such a weird age. This is for all the 50-year-olds who think they can't do this. I'm actually quite scared now."
