Dancing on Ice 2022 skate off: Ria Hebden 'gutted' as she responds to results

Dancing On Ice has returned for 2022 with the first six contestants making their debut in the rink on Sunday night.

There was no vote off in week one as there are still six more celebrities left to compete, but television presenter Ria Hebden was confirmed as the first star in this year's skate off.

Ria found herself in the bottom two alongside Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor.

Many viewers were left raging over the results after Ria's impressive performance landed her third place on the scoreboard with 24.5.

Breaking her silence, Ria told ITV's Lorraine she did not see it coming.

Asked by Lorraine how she was feeling after skating yesterday, Ria said she was "gutted" but has been inundated with support.

She told the host: "I feel really proud, I've woken up this morning to hundreds of messages of love and kindness and support, it's been wonderful.

Lorraine Kelly talks to Dancing On Ice's Ria Hebden (ITV)

"I honestly worked so hard with [professional skater] Lukasz [Rozycki] to do that yesterday - I still can't believe I did a cartwheel on ice, on live TV and didn't kill myself! So I'm just basking in that really and looking back and being really proud.

"I am gutted we're in the skate off because I didn't see that one coming at all."

Commended by Lorraine for her positive attitude and asked if she will use the week to practice, Ria said: "I'm not having a day off – I'm back on the ice this afternoon! It's relentless.

"Because I've never skated before and I've never been professionally dance trained, you have to keep your feet on the ice to get better and better, so that consistency should hopefully put me in good stead for this Sunday.

"It's showbiz, you've got to smile through it."
