Dance troupe stages artistic protest in Washington over Minneapolis shootings

A professional dance troop performed interpretive dances in Washington on President’s Day, protesting deadly ICE shootings in Minneapolis.

The First Amendment Troop staged “ResistDance,” an artistic act of dissent, at the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Memorial.

The group says their performance was to honor protesters Renée Good and Alex Pretti, who were killed in fatal shootings by federal agents in Minneapolis.

Twenty-two dancers performed, with the group saying it represented the number of days between Good and Pretti’s deaths.

The troop consisted of dancers from multiple Broadway shows including "Hamilton", "MJ" and "Wicked", along with several Kennedy Center performers.
