Dana White has favoured Nate Diaz in a list of potential opponents for Conor McGregor to face in his UFC return.
After breaking his foot at UFC 264 last year, McGregor has predicted a return to full training in April and expects to book his next fight shortly after that.
White was given a list of potential opponents by TSN on their segment 'The Odds Game' for McGregor to fight next, with Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira and Tony Ferguson among the names listed.
But he backed McGregor's trilogy with Diaz to be the Irishman's return fight from his injury later this year.
White was also asked about the chances of McGregor fighting more than once in 2022, but the UFC boss admitted he expects him to have just one bout.
McGregor and Diaz first fought in 2016, when Diaz replaced Rafael Dos Anjos on 11 days notice and surprised many by handing McGregor his first UFC defeat.
'Notorious' avenged his loss to Diaz just five months later, breaking him down over five rounds to win a majority decision at UFC 202.
Their rematch sits at No.3 in the list of highest selling pay-per-view events in UFC history with a massive 1.6 million buys.
Addressing when McGregor will fight next whilst talking with ESPN, White was unsure if summer will be too soon for the former two-weight champion.

"I don't know if Conor will be back this summer. That's all going to depend on how Conor's leg heals and a million other things that could happen between now and summer," he said.
"So...to speculate is even stupid. I just stopped doing that. When Conor McGregor calls me and says, 'I'm ready to go full bore and start training a hundred percent', then we start talking about what's possible for Conor."
