New Channel 5 presenter, Dan Walker, has told the Loose Women that he is "grounded by his faith" as he discussed how Christianity has impacted his career. The former-BBC Breakfast host told Denise Welch, Ruth Langford, Jane Moore and Katie Piper that he will never work on a Sunday because of this.
Dan, who recently joined 5News after presenting BBC Breakfast since 2016, said: "Family, faith and friends are so important to me." A practising Christian, Dan's spiritual upbringing came largely through the Evangelical Christian tradition and he has said that his faith is a "big part of who [he] is." He added: "From my perspective, my faith grounds me. The praise never takes me too high and the criticism never makes me too low."
Despite this, the Loose Women questioned Dan on whether he ever "questions his own faith," to which he replied: "I think it's important to ask those questions." The 45-year-old said that faith "informs who [he is], what [he does] and how [he speaks].

Elsewhere in the programme, Dan talked at length about taking himself out of his comfort zone by partaking in Strictly Come Dancing in 2021. "I loved every second of Strictly," he told the Loose Women before recalling that during his first audition for the show he was simply told: “we’re going to put some music on, just dance,” to which he said that he could “feel his body melt inside.”
Dan's move to 5News came earlier in the year. His departure was announced back in April and Walker said he was "really excited" to take on his new role at Channel 5 News, duly replacing Sian Williams who recently stepped down from anchoring the show. Despite moving away from early-morning breakfast shifts, Dan told the Loose Women that he still wakes up at 5am every day and has become somewhat of a "silent ninja" to avoid waking up his wife."
Loose Women airs on ITV on weekdays at 12.30
