Dan Walker 'glad to be alive' after his bike was hit by a car

TV host Dan Walker has posted that he's 'glad to be alive' after his bike was hit by a car. The 5News host shared images of himself in an ambulance with a bloodied and battered face, joined by the paramedics who tended to him.

Dan, who found fame through hosting BBC Breakfast for six years from 2016, wrote on his Twitter: "Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike. Face is a mess but I don’t think anything is broken. Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene.

"This is my [sic] smiling. Thankful for our NHS." You can get more celebrity news and other story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here.

Dan is seen with a bloodied cheek, nose and mouth and attempting a smile as he poses with Shaun and Jamie in the ambulance. The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant left BBC Breakfast in May, 2022, and became the host of 5News. Recently he interviewed the partner of missing Lancashire woman, Nicola Bulley, and you can see what Paul Ansell said, here.

Dan took up the reigns on Channel 5 in June, the day when the then Prime Minister Boris Johnson faced a vote of no confidence.

Strictly's Motsi Mabuse was among the people replying in the comments saying: "Oh wow !!! Get well soon." ITN News' Sally Biddulph said: "So glad you are OK Dan, what a shock. Rest up and feel better soon."
