AMC has announced that Dan Stevens will be the lead actor in the upcoming third season of The Terror, based on Victor LaValle's novel The Devil in Silver. The network greenlit the new season in February, marking a return to the acclaimed anthology series almost five years after the second season aired.
Stevens, known for his roles in Abigail, Legion, and Downton Abbey, will not only star in the series but also serve as an executive producer. In The Devil in Silver, he will portray Pepper, a man wrongly confined to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital in Queens. The storyline follows Pepper as he navigates a nightmarish world within the hospital, facing off against fellow patients, secretive doctors, and potentially even the Devil himself.
The show's description promises a gripping blend of psychological horror and drama, with Stevens expressing his excitement to be part of the project. The series will be helmed by Chris Cantwell and Victor LaValle, who are also serving as writers and executive producers. Karyn Kusama, known for her work on Yellowjackets, will direct the first two episodes and join the team as an executive producer.
The Terror franchise is known for its chilling and atmospheric storytelling, with the first season focusing on a supernatural threat during an Arctic expedition and the second season exploring a vengeful spirit at a Japanese internment camp. The upcoming season, The Terror: Devil in Silver, promises to deliver another haunting tale that will captivate audiences.
Joining the production team as executive producers are industry heavyweights Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Alexandra Milchan, Scott Lambert, Guymon Casady, and Brooke Kennedy. The six-episode season is scheduled to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2025, offering viewers a new chapter in the dark and twisted world of The Terror.
