Dan Stevens, 39, has caused chaos on the One Show following his hilarious remark about Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The show ’s hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas were left without a word between them, as Stevens launched into his joke.
He was on the show to talk about his new TV series Gaslit, which looks at the infamous 1970s Watergate scandal.
Pretending to describe the new show he said: "What you’ve got is a criminal for a leader who is wrapped in a messy war, embroiled in a stupid scandal and surrounded by ambitious idiots and really should resign.”
He then took a pause.
"I'm sorry, that’s the intro to Boris Johnson," he then added. “I’m so sorry.”
Jermaine let out a snorting laugh while Alex widened her eyes in shock as the two hosts scrambled to work out what had just gone on.
A scathing gasp could be heard in the background.
Dan, dressed in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, came back around for a cheeky round two later on.
He said: “Watergate is the original scandal that spawned the suffix ‘gate’, from which we get Partygate - and all other stupid scandals.”
