Dan James will captain Leeds United’s under-21s this evening as the Whites take on their Derby County counterparts at Pride Park. The Wales international is suspended from first-team this weekend following his red card against Chelsea in May and will use tonight to pick up some valuable minutes ahead of the trip to Southampton next weekend.
Darko Gyabi is involved against the Rams, too, as he makes his first competitive appearance in a Leeds shirt. Sonny Perkins makes his first appearance since his move from West Ham United and looks set to lead the line.
Archie Gray, who caught the eye of many on the club’s pre-season tour of Australia, also starts with Michael Skubala’s Whites look to get their season off to a fast start.

Skubala has given Keenan Carole, fresh from being named on the bench for the first-team last Sunday against Cagliari, the nod in the back-line, while Mateo Joseph also starts for the Whites. Sean McGurk and Amari Miller are amongst those aiming to come on and make a difference off the bench.
Leeds: Darryl Ombang; Kris Moore, Keenan Carole, Jeremiah Mullen, James Debayo, Jack Jenkins, Sonny Perkins, Darko Gyabi, Dan James, Mateo Joseph, Archie Gray.
Bench: Will Brook, Cian Coleman, Sean McGurk, Charlie Allen, Amari Miller.
