Former UFC fighter and all-round MMA expert Dan Hardy has given his prediction for the potential Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall UFC Heavyweight Title clash. The PFL Europe executive has given a bolt prediction, backing Aspinall to defeat the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.
Dan Hardy Weighs-In With Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall Prediction
When it comes to MMA, not a lot of people know more than Dan Hardy. The current PFL Europe executive has been around mixed martial arts all his life, as well as being a successful fighter in his day too.
Hardy of course had a period in the UFC, fighting on some of the biggest and best shows in the early days. Now, Hardy is a highly respected voice in MMA circles, along with the likes of Joe Rogan, Bruce Buffer, Michael Bisping and Daniel Cormier to name but a few.
Like the vast majority of other UFC fans, Dan Hardy wants to see the Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall fight in 2025. After the UFC’s last show of 2024 at UFC 310, Dana White confirmed that the ‘biggest fight in UFC history’ between Jones and Aspinall is ‘100% happening’.
This has sent MMA fans into a frenzy, with an announcement hopefully coming our way in January. Following that news, current and former fighters as well as general fans have all been giving their predictions for the potential UFC Heavyweight Title fight between Jones and Aspinall.
Dan Hardy is one of those people, who has weighed in with his thoughts on the Jones vs Aspinall match-up in a recent interview. Although Hardy can make a case for both men and could see either person winning the fight, he has admitted he would lean slightly in favour of his fellow countryman Tom Aspinall.
Hardy: ‘I Would Lean Towards Tom Aspinall’
Speaking in an interview with Bloody Elbow just before Christmas, Dan Hardy gave his thoughts on the proposed Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall fight for the UFC Heavyweight Title in 2025.
Hardy believes that Aspinall most definitely deserves his shot at the full title, but also believes that Jon Jones is more than capable of beating the Englishman with his skillset and technical ability, despite maybe not growing into a fully fledged heavyweight yet:
“I think right now he’s [Aspinall] deserving of a shot, and I think he’s got so much momentum behind him. He’s fully prepared and capable of shocking the world.
“He’s lean, fast, and powerful. Tom’s got a well-rounded game. Especially in the heavyweight division, speed and power can be the equalizer in any fight, and I think Tom has that in abundance.
“A lot of people would expect Jon Jones to be too much for him technically, but I still don’t feel like Jones has fully grown into his heavyweight frame.
“Jon Jones certainly has the skills and technical ability to beat Tom Aspinall, but I would lean towards Tom Aspinall,” concluded Hardy.
It remains to be seen whether the fight gets officially made or not, but it seems we are closer than ever to getting this epic clash between the G.O.A.T Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. What a fight it promises to be!
