The Detroit Lions defense served up a whole lot of pressure and pain on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Aaron Glenn’s defense sacked Falcons QB Desmond Ridder seven times and delivered several big hits all over the field in the Lions’ 20-6 win in Ford Field.
Coming off a tough loss to Seattle where the Lions surrendered over 400 yards of offense, they suffocated the young Falcons. Atlanta netted just 183 yards, including just 45 rushing yards on 17 carries by talented RBs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier.
Buy Lions TicketsAfter the game, head coach Dan Campbell showed pride in his defense in how they responded to a bad game last Sunday.
“Those are prideful guys in there,” Campbell said of his defensive players. “We’ve got players that — it means something to them, and so do the coaches.”
Campbell was quick to credit both Aaron Glenn and the players all around the Lions defense.
“I thought (Glenn) did a great job with the game plan,” Campbell stated. “We wanted to find a way to generate a little more pressure. And we did that with a couple of things we did, but also, guys really showed up. They won their one-on-ones today.”
That stands in stark contrast to what Campbell had to say after the Week 2 loss to Seattle. He challenged his players to win those one-on-one battles, and they delivered.
