Dan Campbell press conferences, man. You just never quite know what you’re going to get. It’s so much fun.
One moment he might be crying real tears in front of everyone. Or he might be talking about chewing off the opponent’s kneecaps like some sort of football Hannibal Lecter. That’s just who Dan Campbell is, man. He gets up there and he goes.
So when a reporter’s alarm started to go off during a press conference at Lions training camp on Wednesday, you knew we were about to get some gold.
And, look. I can’t blame the reporter. Getting up early is hard, man. It is! Especially for training camp? Nah. That’s an early, early start. He probably just woke up before his alarm and forgot to turn it off.
I’m thankful he did, too. Because it led to this moment.

It wasn’t quite that time when John Tortorella picked up the phone for a reporter’s mom, but it was still pretty fun.
The alarm goes off and Campbell says “What the?” He tries to continue his initial spiel, but he can’t. “What’s your name. Colton? I’m not going to forget you, Colton. Is that your alarm? You got up early, huh?”

Everyone thought this was hilarious. But, more than that, it showed everyone just how fun Campbell actually is. It made people want to root for him.
