A Bruno Guimaraes winner on the Brazilian's first start for the club was enough to give Newcastle United the win over Southampton on Thursday night.
The home side had taken the lead through Stuart Armstrong but Chris Wood - scoring his first goal since his £25million move from Burnley in January - equalised with a powerful header before Guimaraes finished superbly to deliver the three points for Eddie Howe's men.
After the game, Newcastle fans have been voting on Chronicle Live's player ratings and Guimaraes' match winning performance was only enough to rank him in third place with a mark of 8.6.
Martin Dubravka and Dan Burn were the two players deemed better than the midfielder on the night, with Dubravka given a score of 8.7 and Burn topping the ratings for the second consecutive match with 8.8.
It was an excellent performance all-round, with only three Newcastle players rating lower than seven. Miguel Almiron, Javier Manquillo and Sean Longstaff were the three players and all three of them were second half substitutes when the score was already in the Magpies' favour.
