Dame Marie Bashir's gift for championing causes

When Marie Bashir became the first female governor of NSW she vowed to speak up for the vulnerable and disadvantaged and during her tenure, she gracefully lived up to that promise.

Dame Marie has died aged 95, NSW Premier Chris Minns confirmed on Tuesday, after a career in medicine and politics that led her to meet presidents, popes and princesses.
