Dame Judi Dench unimpressed as This Morning chat delayed due to cooking segment

Dame Judi Dench did not look happy on Thursday as her live This Morning interview ended up being delayed due to a cooking segment.

Hosts Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes invited Juliet Sear into the ITV studio to demonstrate her cinnamon bun recipe - but she didn't stick to the allocated time frame.

At one point, Juliet asked: "How much time have I got left?" as Phillip, 59, informed her that she had already "gone over".

He then added: "Anything you take now is coming off Judi Dench!" as Juliet laughed and apologised.

Once the cooking segment came to an end, This Morning went live to Judi, 87, as Phillip told viewers that her interview was coming up next - but she didn't look overly impressed.

Viewers were quick to pick up on her demeanour and took to Twitter to comment.

"Love it when they catch an interviewee unawares on camera. Judi isn’t feeling it #ThisMorning," one person claimed.

Another viewer tweeted: "Never mind Juliet and her buns, the only person taking time away from Judi Dench is Phillip himself with his self centred, neverending questions and monologues #ThisMorning."

And a third person said: "If the cooking segment went over, cut the "competition" not Judi Dench, who didn't look impressed when the camera cut to her that she'd already been kept waiting #ThisMorning."

Host Phillip Schofield admitted that the cooking segment was shaving time off of their interview with the legendary actress (ITV)

When the interview finally began, Dame Judi couldn't resist making a subtle dig and said: "And I know how to make cinnamon buns now..."

When Phillip asked her if she already knew how to make the sweet treat, Dame Judi laughed and described herself as the "the worst cook in Britain".

The legendary movie star then got to speaking about her new film Belfast, which is set for release in cinemas this week.

After viewers were shown a clip of the movie, Judi explained how the film came about with Kenneth Branagh.

"He said, 'I want to come over and read you something I’ve written recently', and I said, ‘absolutely’ and we arranged a day and he arrived and he sat down and he read it to me without a break, and I sat there completely riveted.

"And as I’m sure you know, it’s the story of his childhood in Belfast being brought up during the troubles."

On her role and playing alongside Ciaran Hinds as the grandfather figure, Dame Judi admitted: "I had admired Ciaran Hinds for a long, long time but we’d never worked together, but there was something about the fact that we were at the beginning of lockdown and we were suddenly able and allowed to do this film with incredible care taken of everybody.

"We were tested every single day - every member of the crew and the cast, so in a way because we were all released of this oppressive feeling, we became a family very quickly. It was amazingly helpful," she added.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
