Helen Mirren has paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II following the monarch's death aged 96.
The Dame, who portrayed the Queen on the silver screen and on the stage, described the monarch as the 'epitome of nobility' in a heartfelt tribute social media to her one million followers.
In a post on Instagram, the Oscar-winning British actress said: “I am proud to be an Elizabethan. We mourn a woman, who, with or without the crown, was the epitome of nobility.”

And many flocked to her social media post to also in-turn share their kind words after the UK's longest-ever reigning monarch passed away. One, wrote: "Infinite sadness," while another, penned: "A sad day indeed."
A third, echoed: "Complete and tireless dedication," while a fourth, commented: "I feel the world has lost their Grandmother."
The passing of Queen Elizabeth II was confirmed yesterday by Buckingham Palace, which said she passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire. The news reports that all of Her Majesty' s children as well as other members of the Royal Family such as Prince Harry and Prince William scrambled to her side, after doctors became 'concerned for her health'.
After the news of her tragic passing, politicians, celebrities and other famous faces around the world have rushed to social media to pay tribute to the monarch.
James Bond star, Daniel Craig, said the Queen leaves 'an incomparable legacy and will be profoundly missed'.
In a statement to the PA news agency, he added: “I, like so many, was deeply saddened by the news today and my thoughts are with the royal family, those she loved and all those who loved her.”
