Gyles Brandreth has revealed Dame Emma Thompson heroically came to the aid of a Coronation guest during the service at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, when King Charles was officially crowned as monarch.
The broadcaster told how the Oscar-winning actress helped a guest when they began having a “coughing fit” during the ceremony and in an "act of kindness" reached into her handbag for a cough sweet which she passed down the rows during one of the songs.
Gyles recalled the "wonderful" moment, during reminiscing about the landmark day as he said it was a “magnificent” but “human” day for those in attendance and watching from across the country.
