Dame Deborah James' heartbreaking snap as she 'has no strength'

Deborah James shared a heartwarming picture of her loving dad who is helping her as she "has no strength" herself.

Earlier this year, the avid campaigner announced she was receiving end of life care at home after fighting bowel cancer since 2016. Known as Bowel Babe online, she has been working tirelessly since her diagnosis to raise awareness and understanding of the condition.

For Father's Day, Deborah shared a heart-warming picture on her Instagram story of her dad brushing her hair. She captioned the post: "Happy Father's Day! Yes my dad is brushing my hair because I have no strength anymore to brush this."

Sharing the snap to her 974k followers on Instagram, the 40-year-old looked frail as her dad, Alistair, looked after his daughter. The In The Style balloons were seen in the background as it was previously announced she had raised £1million for cancer research through her collaboration with the company.

Deborah has been documenting her brave cancer battle since her diagnosis five years ago and has been sharing her updates with her followers. Earlier this month she appeared on ITV talk show Lorraine to remind people to "celebrate life".

She said: "I'm just taking life day by day as I said at the beginning and I'm continuing to feel blessed knowing that my time is limited. But at the same time, if truth be told, I have already outlived, yet again, what I was told when I was sent home from the hospital. So even I am a bit surprised.

"It's having that sense of purpose, getting involved, continuing with the campaigning that is keeping me going. The Bowel Babe fund I am so proud of and it's a legacy that I am so proud to leave behind when I am no longer here. But for the moment I am here, I am alive and kicking as much as I can."

It was previously announced that she had just "days to live" as she made her last TV appearance. The Mirror reported that on the show she spoke about the early signs of bowel cancer and how she thought it was an "old man's disease" as she shared her symptoms.
