Dame Deborah James' emotional goodbye to brother as he heads off on holiday

Dame Deborah James saw her brother Ben off on holiday with an emotional goodbye.

The campaigner, 40, revealed she's been pushing for her sibling to go on his planned trip to the US as it had been in the works for ages. Dame Deborah, who is receiving end of life care for bowel cancer at her mum and dad's house in Woking, warned her brother to "not come back under any circumstances".

Deborah has been bravely documenting her cancer journey since she was diagnosed five years ago. Speaking to The Sun, the mum-of-two said of her brother Ben: "He’s off on holiday to the US tomorrow. I have told him they have to go, they’ve planned the trip for ages. I also told him he must not come back, under any circumstances.

"He says he’ll come home. "It’ll be horrible saying goodbye to him. I can’t really think about it right now."

Deborah has raised over £6.5million for cancer charities and the Royal Marsden Hospital since telling fans she was moving to end of life care last month.

At the weekend it was revealed a collection she's done with Fashion Brand In The Style has raised more than £1million.

To celebrate Father's Day on Sunday, the former deputy head teacher shared a heartbreaking snap off her dad brushing her hair.

She told Instagram followers she had "no strength" of her own to do it anymore.

She has also opened up on her sadness that she won't see her brother's kids after he got engaged to partner Ashley earlier this month.

Deborah said at the time: "He finally put a ring on it. If you follow me, you will know brother banter features highly, and even Prince William got in on the action recently.

"The question to my brother has always been, ‘why haven’t you proposed?’"

Speaking to the publication, Deborah burst into tears at not being able to see her nieces and nephews, nor be at their wedding.

She said: "My brother will be the most amazing dad. I am so pleased he is engaged, I love Ashley and they are so happy together.

“I have watched him with my kids over the years, and especially recently. He’s that incredible fun uncle, he and Ashley spoil them rotten.

“And he’s wonderful with his godchildren too.

“It breaks my heart that I won’t see their kids, or see the dad he will be."
