Dame Barbara Windsor’s widower Scott Mitchell finds love again three years after her death

Dame Barbara Windsor’s widower Scott Mitchell says “life feels really good right now” after revealing that he has found love again three year’s after the EastEnders actress’s death.

Mitchell, 60, and the Dame Barbara star were married for 20 years until her death aged 83 in 2020 following her Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

As a way of honouring her, he has since helped to raise thousands of pounds for Alzheimer’s Research UK, including by running three marathons in memory of his late wife.

It was while doing this that he formed a bond with another EastEnders star, Tanya Franks.

Franks, 55, has appeared in EastEnders playing Tanya Cross’s sister Rainie in the BBC soap from 2007 and 2018, when she signed up full-time. However, she left the soap in August 2022.

While it is still “early days”, Mitchell went official with Franks while on holiday in Greece this month and their friends and family are said to be happy for them both.

He told The Sun: “Life feels really good right now and we are enjoying some special time together.”

A source also told the newspaper: “His and Barbara’s friends are delighted he’s found someone to share his life with.

“It’s fairly early days but Scott is cautiously now looking forward to the future.

“They made the decision to update their wider circles while on holiday in Greece and everyone was over the moon.”

The source added that the new couple are “taking things slowly” but there is “so much friendship and respect”.
