The Jets have added yet another weapon for new quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
New York is signing running back Dalvin Cook to a one-year contract, according to a Monday evening report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Per Pelissero, the contract could be worth up to $8.5 million—the largest salary for any free-agent running back this offseason.
Cook, 28, was released by the Vikings on June 9 after six seasons. He ran for 5,993 yards with Minnesota, the third most in franchise history behind Adrian Peterson and Robert Smith.
In 2022, Cook rushed for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns for a Vikings team that won the NFC North by four games. He was named to his fourth straight Pro Bowl but managed just 60 yards in Minnesota's loss to the Giants in an NFC wild-card game.
The Jets are scheduled to open their season against the Bills on Sept. 11.
