The Dallas Wings have appointed Curt Miller as their new general manager and executive vice president of basketball operations. Miller brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks for two years and the Connecticut Sun for seven years, where he also held the position of GM for six years.
Dallas Wings President and CEO Greg Bibb expressed confidence in Miller's ability to lead the team to success, citing his track record of building winning teams and coaching in the WNBA. Miller's first task will be to find a new head coach for the franchise, as there are currently five head coaching vacancies across the league.
Miller is a two-time WNBA Coach of the Year and led the Connecticut Sun to the playoffs for six consecutive years, including two Finals appearances in 2019 and 2022. He is one of three coaches to achieve over 250 college wins and 150 WNBA victories, alongside Van Chancellor and Lin Dunn.
With the upcoming WNBA draft lottery, the Wings are guaranteed no worse than the No. 3 pick due to a pick swap with the Chicago Sky. In addition to Miller's hiring, Travis Charles and Jasmine Thomas have been promoted within the front office. Charles is now the senior vice president of basketball operations and assistant general manager, while Thomas has been named vice president of basketball operations and assistant general manager.
Miller expressed excitement about the potential of the Dallas Wings, highlighting the team's new arena and practice facility, talented roster, and passionate fanbase. His experience in both college and professional basketball positions him well to lead the Wings towards their goal of a WNBA Championship.
