In the original animated series, Zuko's quest to capture the Avatar was driven by his desire to regain his honor in the eyes of his father, Fire Lord Ozai. Liu expressed his desire for season 2 to explore Zuko's backstory, including the whereabouts of his mother and the impact of her influence and disappearance on both Zuko and his sister, Azula.
