Heartbroken Emmerdale stars have started to pay tribute to Dale Meeks, saying how much the actor will be 'sorely missed,' following his death at the of 48.
The death of much loved South Shields born entertainer and soap actor Dale, 48, was announced by a family member on Sunday afternoon, in a Facebook post that read: ""So unbelievably sad. Brother in Law, mucca, side kick and just the Best friend a lad could have wished for. RIP Dale Meeks. So much less to laugh about now you're not there to share it with."
Dale's family member added: "Thanks everyone for all the beautiful messages and memories you have been sharing. The support of Dale's friends has been so incredibly strong over these chaotic, heartbreaking final hours, I can only stand in awe."
It didn't take long for tributes to pour in for Dale, with his former Byker Grove co-stars, Ant and Dec referring to him as 'the loveliest guy' as they fondly remembered their time with him on the CBBC show. Another Byker Grove star, Lesley Saint-John, said she was in a state of shock at his passing and recalled how Dale would sing at events she put on for people with dementia.

And now past and present cast members of Emmerdale have sapoi,en of their sadness at Dale's death. Taking to Twitter, Verity Rushworth, famous for playing Donna Windsor in the ITV soap, wrote: "My thoughts and prayers are with Dale’s friends and family at such a horrendous time. I had the privilege of working with this gorgeous, lovely, hilarious, kind Man."
She added: "What a ray of sunshine he was. The laughs were constant and he will be so so missed. Big kiss Dale"
Sam Dingle actor James Hooton tweeted: "I’ve just heard the tragic news that Dale Meeks has passed away. Dale was a lovely, funny bloke and a great addition to the @emmerdale cast. He will be sorely missed. RIP Dale"
