Dalbeattie Running Club members tackle Heartstone run

Members of Dalbeattie Running Club joined forces with other runners from the area, including some from Annan and District Athletics Club, for a special event on Sunday.

They gathered at the old primary school to run to the Heartstone in the middle of Dalbeattie forest and back.

Some 26 runners completed the challenging course, which involved an elevation gain of over 400 ft, and enjoyed a good cup of tea after the event. Fastest home on the day was local athlete Ally Wight (Hoodlams), recording an impressive 32 mins 19, with James Taylor of ADAC in second place just 49 seconds behind.

First lady home was Marie Marshall from ADAC in 33 mins 19.

Dalbeattie Running Club is enjoying a new schedule of training and new members are always welcome.

Training nights are Tuesday 6pm (meeting at the bandstand in Colliston Park) and Wednesday 7.30pm at the track (Dalbeattie High School).

The sessions are suitable for all abilities and are taken by qualified coaches. For more info visit the Dalbeattie Running Club Facebook page.
