A Dalbeattie man is hoping to complete his charity run at the second attempt.
Norman Neilson took part in last year’s Ultra Scotland 107 mile race only for organisers to pull the plug as bad weather rolled in.
This year’s race gets under way on Saturday and Norman is once again taking on the route between Dalry and Galashiels.
And he’s doing so for Cancer Research UK in memory of his brother David, who lost his life to lung cancer in 2020.
The retired butcher said: “It was taken out of my hands last time but it was the correct decision.
“It was -10 degrees at some of the hill tops and winds were 70mph.
“It was in October last time but this time it’s in June so should hopefully be okay.”
Norman raised just under £1,000 last year but isn’t looking for more donations this time around.
People can follow his progress on the tracker at www.gbultras.com
Before the race, there will be a minute’s silence in memory of Ewan Hitchell.
The 45-year-old dad from Dalbeattie was planning to take on the race to raise funds for a defibrillator for Dalbeattie Star Youth Club before his sudden death last month.
