Paramount Pictures has announced its involvement in the upcoming horror film 'Vicious,' featuring Dakota Fanning in the lead role and directed by Bryan Bertino. The movie follows the story of a young woman who receives a mysterious gift from a late-night visitor, plunging her into a perilous journey as she uncovers a dark and unsettling reality hidden within the present.
'Vicious' is scheduled for release on August 8, 2025, and marks Bryan Bertino's directorial venture following his previous works such as 'The Dark and the Wicked' and 'The Strangers.' The film is being produced by Atlas Entertainment and Richard Suckle, known for their work on acclaimed projects like 'American Hustle,' 'Wonder Woman,' and 'Suicide Squad.'
Aside from 'Vicious,' Dakota Fanning has a busy lineup of projects in the works. She is set to appear in Netflix's 'Ripley' alongside Andrew Scott, as well as the supernatural thriller 'The Watchers' by Ishana Night Shyamalan at New Line. Fanning recently completed filming for Nicole Kidman's 'The Perfect Couple' for Netflix.
Notably, Fanning, the youngest individual to receive a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination, co-founded Lewellen Pictures with her sister Elle in 2020. The production company is currently working on a documentary series titled 'Mastermind' for Hulu, focusing on the journey of Dr. Ann Burgess from nurse to FBI criminal profiler.
Lewellen Pictures has also partnered with A24 to adapt Paris Hilton's memoir into a television series and is producing 'Margo's Got Money Troubles,' featuring Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman for Apple Studios.
