Dak Prescott Shares Hope for Ezekiel Elliott’s Free Agency Move

The Cowboys released longtime running back Ezekiel Elliott in March and the veteran tailback has yet to sign with another team. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott, however, isn’t giving up on the idea that Elliott will return to the Cowboys down the road

“I know myself, and I can tell you there’s a lot of people not only on the team but the organization that would love that,” Prescott said on The Adam Schefter Podcast regarding a possible reunion with Elliott. “We understand that this is a business and the market changes and things go up and down, so it doesn’t always work out the way we see it, but hopefully, that could happen.”

After he was released, Elliott reportedly narrowed down his list of potential landing spots to the Bengals, Eagles and Jets, according to Schefter.

Notably, Dallas parted ways with Elliott because of Tony Pollard’s emergence in the backfield. Despite being a three-time Pro Bowler, Elliott’s numbers have steadily declined over the years. He rushed for 876 yards and 12 touchdowns this past season on 231 carries.

It isn’t out of the realm of possibility, but a reunion between Elliott and the Cowboys will likely not happen for some time.
