A mug reading ‘World's Greatest Dad’ is, it seems, a long way from the world's greatest present. While many grew up with the idea that dads are only interested in a select few Father’s Day gifts, new research reveals that the time has come to stop adding to the sock draw and whisky cabinet and start gifting the old man something he actually wants this year - something new.
Research, conducted by Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum, reveals that dads see ties (29%), socks (28%), key rings (25%), novelty t-shirts (22%) and pants (21%) as the five most predictable gifts to open on Father’s Day.
One in five (19%) feel that Father’s Day gifts are an afterthought, with a further 20% stating that they can predict exactly what they’re going to receive every year. This has led to 43% of dads revealing that they would be interested in swapping their gift for something different.
