When Puerto Rican artist Raymond Ayala, better known as Daddy Yankee, announced his retirement from music in December 2023, many expected him to step out of the public eye. However, the opposite has happened. Not only has he continued releasing songs, but he's also set for a return to the stage this November—this time in Argentina.
Since pausing his career in Spanish-language urban music, the 'Big Boss' of reggaeton has released three songs and shared his Christian faith, beginning in his native Puerto Rico, where he spoke and even preached in churches, sharing his faith journey.
Now, Daddy Yankee is ready to share his message internationally.

His first destination was Kenya, where he joined a Christian group to volunteer and share his experiences. During his trip, he also took time to explore and connect with nature.
He told fans that he intends to continue his music career, bringing messages of unity "to all corners of the world and inspiring more people to improve every day."
Furthermore, he invited his fans to join causes like the ones he's embracing, not solely as a religious mission but as a social movement of compassion and empathy.
Daddy Yankee's Return to the International Stage
The Puerto Rican artist reminded his fans he'll be in Argentina on November 24 not as a musician but as a preacher.
He will appear at the Chacarita Juniors Stadium in Buenos Aires alongside the church Manantial de Bendiciones. "I'm bringing my testimony, bringing the word," he said.
"It's going to be a great day, and we'll be celebrating in the name of the Lord," he expressed, adding that the event will be free.
Daddy Yankee is also expected to travel from Puerto Rico, where he's based, to Miami for the Latin Grammy Awards on November 14, where his song 'Bonita' is nominated for Best Urban Song.
In addition to 'Bonita,' Daddy Yankee recently released two other Christian-themed songs, 'Loveo' and 'Corazón de Sangre.'
He is not the first artist to embrace Christianity in this way; before him, artists like Farruko, Hector "El Father," Don Omar, Julio Voltio, and El General have used their voices to praise God through music.
