A dad who put off going to the doctor to investigate a spot his wife found on his back has sadly died of cancer. Paul Manchester, 56, was much-loved by his family but tragically died three years after he was diagnosed with a rare and serious form of skin cancer.
His wife Kath had noticed a spot on his back, but it took her husband “a little while” before he went to have it checked out with a doctor. Paul, an accountant, was given an initial diagnosis in December 2018, before further tests showed the cancer had spread to his lungs and liver.
It later progressed from stage two melanoma to stage four. After two years of chemotherapy and immunotherapy at a centre in St Helen’s, it was discovered last August the cancer had spread to Paul’s brain and in January he died at home surrounded by family, reports Liverpool Echo.
