A woman "froze in fear" when her dad started spraying her with petrol and tried to set up her on fire - after she had reached out to him following a bad break up. Stacy Brooks, 31, had only just reconnected with her dad, Mark Brooks, 61, after 20 years of estrangement when he carried out the horror attack.
She had turned to him when she "needed him the most", with her dad letting her stay at his home in Pitsmoor, Sheffield, in July 2021. However, he soon became "angry" over her new partner - who Stacey has since split from - and started acting "jealous" and "obsessive" over her.
A short time later, the pair had an argument on the phone about money and her ex-partner, Manchester Evening News reports. On August 9, 2021, a furious Mark then turned up to where Stacey was staying at the time and started brutally attacking her, before covered her in a mixture of petrol and another flammable fluid.
