Dad tracks down fly-tipping neighbour who dumped poo in garden thanks to clue in rubbish

A dad has left people online in stitches after he used his detective skills to find the owner of several bags of rubbish that had been left in his garden - including a poo-filled nappy.

Josh Hooper, 26, was less than impressed when he woke up one morning to find piles of bin bags that had been thrown into the skip that is currently in his garden as he's busy renovating his home.

Keen to find out who the rubbish belonged to, Josh decided to open up the bags to find a hoard of unpleasant items including an unwrapped, poo-filled nappy.

But among the gross discarded items was a key clue that helped him track down the fly-tipper - as they'd thrown away a pharmacy bag that included their name and address.

Discovering that the culprit was a neighbour who lived just two streets away from him, Josh then picked up the bags and carried them back to their original owner, leaving them piled neatly in their garden.

The builder, from Keynsham, Bristol, said: “I was annoyed because money is tight while we renovate our house – we don’t need to be paying to get rid of someone else’s rubbish too.

“There were dirty nappies and all sorts in the bags. I saw a pharmacy bag with a name and address on it and realised they only lived a couple of roads away.

“I decided to do them a favour and drop it off on my way home that day, putting the bags neatly in their garden.”

Josh also shared the story on a local Facebook group, where he said: “Big thanks to the person who dumped bags of rubbish on our skip. Even bigger thanks for leaving your address on there. It’s been returned safely.”

The post garnered nearly 600 likes, and other locals in the group were left in stitches by the man's genius idea to return the rubbish to the owner to be disposed of properly.

One person said: “Gutted it happened to you, but what joy of joys to know you could return it! Best post on this page this year.”

While another added: “Well done, the person who did it seems to think they can get away with anything.”

And a third wrote: “Brilliant, that will teach them."

After sharing the post online, Josh was contacted by another neighbour who said three other houses on the street were having the same issue - leading them to believe the suspect is a serial fly-tipper.
