A dad-of-two stabbed his ex to death then killed himself because he was 'heartbroken' after they broke up, an inquest has heard. Daniel Patten, 31, killed Regan Tierney at the home they once shared then called her grandad to confess what he had done and ask him to collect their two children.
Mr Patten then called police and said he was going to hang himself. He was found critically injured by officers and died in hospital a few days later, reports MEN.
An inquest heard that Mr Patten had been left "heartbroken" and "destroyed" after Miss Tierney, 27, ended their decade-long relationship. He had just discovered Regan had a new relationship with another man. In the early hours of June 5, 2019 Mr Patten drove to Regan's home, let himself in and stabbed her to death.
