Dad 'split in half' after falling into vat of 1,500C molten iron in horror workplace accident

Caterpillar

A father-of-three was killed instantly at work following an accident involving molten iron at almost 1,500C.

Steven Dierkes, 39, was left with half his body lying on a factory floor after he tripped and fell into the molten iron vat.

The incident occurred at his place of work at the Caterpillar Mapleton Foundry in Illinois on Thursday, June 2nd.
