Dad punched after Grand National stag do remains in hospital fighting for life in a coma

A dad who went to watch the Grand National on his stag do is now fighting for his life in hospital after being punched. Lee Burns had been to Aintree on Saturday (April 15) before returning to Poulton in Lancashire to continue his night out.

However, Lee was knocked unconscious and suffered a head injury after being assaulted outside a bar at around 1.25am on Sunday (April 16). The dad-of-three from Blackpool is now in an induced coma at Royal Preston Hospital, having undergone emergency surgery.

The surgery took three hours in order to try and stop two bleeds on his brain and to ease the pressure from the swelling, according to friend Paul Latham. Paul has now set up a GoFundMe campaign to support Lee, who is a HGV driver and will not be able to work again due to his injuries, and his family following the tragic events.
