Dad-of-three dies in Leeds after crashing car into wall as 'devastated' family pay emotional tribute

A man has sadly lost his life after being involved in a crash in Leeds.

"Proud" dad-of-three Dean Ryan was in a critical conditioning after he sustained serious injuries during an accident on Tuesday June 7 in Rothwell. He was driving a Citroen C4 which was travelling down Styebank Lane and failed to stop at the junction to Park Lane and crashed into a stone wall, police confirmed.

The grandad was in a critical condition after the incident and two days later, on June 9, he sadly died in Leeds General Infirmary.

His parents said: "Dean was a proud and popular man, who was well thought of by all that knew him. He was an avid cricket and football fan, and loved life.

"We are devastated by the loss of our son." Dean leaves behind three sons, and a grandson.

The family are being supported by specialist officers and request that they are left alone to grieve at this time. The Major Collision and Enquiry Team is continuing to appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage regarding a collision.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police have released an image and family tribute for a man who has now died following road traffic collision in Rothwell.

The Major Collision and Enquiry Team is continuing to appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage regarding a collision at the junction of Park Lane and Styebank Lane on Tuesday June 7 which sadly resulted in the death of Dean Ryan (54).

The collision took place at about 3.19am after a Citroen C4 travelling down Styebank Lane failed to stop at the junction to Park Lane and collided with a stone wall. Dean, who was driving the car, was seriously injured in the incident and passed away in the LGI at 11.30hrs on Thursday June 9."
