Thousands of pounds have been raised for the family of a paramedic who was killed in a crash.
Ben Lightburn, 31, was involved in a crash on Mossborough Road, in Rainford, on Sunday, January 1. Emergency services rushed to the crash, at around 10am, but the paramedic, who was off duty at the time, died.
A GoFundMe page has now been set up by Ben's colleagues to help his family at this tragic time. Marc Dobson who created the fundraising page described the paramedic as a "committed family man".

He said: "Ben was a well loved, popular and brilliant paramedic who was tragically killed on his way to work on New Year’s Day. He was a committed family man who left behind a wife and two children and this page was kindly set up by his colleagues who wish to support his family at this sad time."
Loved ones also left flowers and written tributes at the scene of the crash. One read: "You were the most loved and cherished man, a gentle soul and an amazing Daddy to your two beautiful children.
"You have left such a massive hole in everyone's heart, especially your mum and Gill. You were like a brother to Luke and Jamie and I can't believe your no longer here. Sleep well Ben."
Another said: "Words can't describe the pain we are all feeling right now. I hope you knew just how loved you were by us all.
"I will cherish the memories we made down the years, at home, at the caravan and at the pub. You really were a true great friend and I will miss you more than you will ever know. Till we met again mate, and you'll probably be late."
Merseyside Police launched an investigation following the crash involving a Renault Scenic and Nissan Almera. Ben had been driving the Nissan and the driver and passenger of the Renault, a man and a woman, suffered serious injuries. They are not believed to be life threatening.
Friends and colleagues of Ben have also taken to social media to express their condolences and share tributes. Jean Loyden Cooney said: "Stand down Ben. You served every single person well. You was a truly amazing colleague, friend, a boss dad to your kids and a husband to your loving wife.
"You will be truly missed but remembered always as the funny, easy go lad you were, who touched the hearts of everyone. Your last stand down Ben. Rest easy mate."
Kat Keith Edwards commented: "One of the best out there, forever in our hearts." While Kirsty Harrison added: "RIP Ben, thinking of your family and colleagues at this sad time."
Sergeant Simon Duffy from our Roads Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the driver who very sadly passed away.
“An investigation into the collision is in the very stages and I would appeal for anyone who was in the area of Blind Foot Road/Mossborough Road who saw anything or believes they have captured anything significant on their dash cam to contact us.”
