Dad and his two sons jailed after firing shots and ramming wagon in furious row

A trio of men from the same family have been sent to prison after shots were fired and a wagon was rammed by a tipper truck.

Witnesses informed police that between five and six shots were fired during a confrontation on August 3 2020.

During the incident, the victims were threatened and intimidated by the three members of the Price family and a number of gunshots were fired.

A wagon driver who was dropping off fencing to the site revealed to police how his lorry was deliberately targeted in the attack.

He described being rammed by a yellow tipper truck being driven by one of the family. The terrified driver told cops he feared for his life as he ran away from the site.

Other people also claimed that they were also rammed by the tipper truck at Factory Lane in Widnes, according to Liverpool Echo.

Rueben Price Snr, 49, Rueben Price Jnr, 27, and James Price, 24, were sentenced yesterday (Monday) at Liverpool Crown Court in relation to the incident.

Price Snr, of Regent Street, Newton le Willows, was jailed for three years; Price Jnr, of Southworth Road, Newton le Willows was sentenced to two years and five months, and James Price, of Bagueley Avenue was also jailed for two years and five months.

In addition, the father and his two sons were given 277-day curfews upon releases and seven year restraining orders.

The three men had all pleaded guilty to to violent disorder in relation to the incident on Factory Lane.

By the time police arrived at the scene at around 12pm on August 3 most of those involved had fled the scene. However, during their enquiries detectives were able to establish that the disturbance related to a land dispute between two families, who both owned sites on Factory Lane.

One of the family’s had decided to undertake building work at on their land, which the Price family strongly objected to.

As a result, the Price family decided to take matters into their own hands and went to the neighbouring family’s land on mass to warn them to stop.

During a search of the land belonging to the Price family police found a number of burned mobile phones and more ammunition.

Officers also found a number of abandoned vehicles. The site was left deserted after the Price’s escaped on foot.

A long barrelled gun was also subsequently seized from an address associated with Reuben Price Snr in Newton Le Willows.

As a result of the investigation Rueben Price Snr, Rueben Price Jnr and James Price were all arrested and charged in in connection with the incident.

Following their sentencing, Detective Sergeant Pierre of Widnes Local Policing Unit said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the local community for all the help and support that they have provided throughout this investigation, without their assistance today’s result would not have been possible.

“It is clear that the Price family believed that they were above the law, they decided to take matters into their own hands and went round mob-handed to their neighbours with the intent of causing fear and harm. It was only pure luck that nobody was killed or seriously injured.

“Through what has been an extremely complex investigation, the team of detectives here at Widnes have been able to gather a catalogue of evidence against the Price family, and the trio were left with no option but to plead guilty to the charges against them.

“I hope that the conclusion of this case and the sentences handed to the Price family will provide reassurance to both the victims and the local community.”
